Neem een smeltkroes, giet daar een flinke hoeveelheid ska, jazz, latin en reggae in, voeg een snufje surf en rock toe, breng dit mengsel op een hoog vuur aan de kook, dan krijg je de unieke sound van de Amsterdam Faya Allstars. De band bestaat pas twee jaar, maar hun opzwepende “Jamaican jazz to the max” is nu al een groot succes in binnen- en buitenland. Na de lancering van hun eerste EP in 2012 tourden de Allstars door Duitsland, België, Frankrijk en Nederland, waar ze onder meer op Lowlands, Jazz in Duketown en Zwarte Cross gestaan hebben. En bij diverse festivals als publieksfavoriet zijn uitgeroepen Ook bij zalen als Tivoli in Utrecht en Paradiso (2X) in Amsterdam ging het dak eraf. Inmiddels is er interesse getoond vanuit landen als Japan, Polen, Spanje en de VS. Het eerste album All minorities are the majority komt eind maart 2014 uit bij het Duitse Grover Records.

Oprichter en bandleider Remco Korporaal (altsax, zang) is zelf een absolute allstar met zo`n 30 jaar ervaring in de internationale muziekscene. Hij heeft onder meer gespeeld met legendarische bands als The Toasters en The Skatalites, en grootheden als Desmond Dekker en Ziggy Marley. In 2011 werd het tijd voor een eigen band, met een nieuwe sound. Omdat hij wilde breken met de bekende waarden in de ska-reggae ging hij bewust op zoek naar ervaren muzikanten met een totaal verschillende achtergrond. Een geslaagde zoektocht, want de muzikale en culturele tegenstellingen tussen de bandleden konden niet groter zijn dan in de huidige bezetting. De band bestaat uit gedreven musici uit alle windstreken. Met een Surinaamse bassist, een Indo-blazerssectie, een Antilliaanse drummer, een gitarist uit Uruguay en een Armeense concertpianist vormen de Allstars een afspiegeling van kleurrijk Amsterdam, thuisbasis van de band. Een echte smeltkroes dus, die een spannende muzikale kruisbestuiving mogelijk maakt.

Add a little Surf and Rock and turn up the heat. With the blend just right the result shall have the unique sound of the Amsterdam Faya All Stars .In just two and a half years their fanatic “Jamaica Jazz To The Max” has become a great success with audiences across the country, as well as Internationally.

After the launch of their first EP in 2012 the following tour saw the Amsterdam Faya AllStars appearing at dates across Germany, Belgium, France and the Netherlands, including the famous ‘Lowlands’ festival, as well as those of ‘Jazz in Duketown’ and the ‘Zwarte Cross’. By a number of festivals the band were crowned as the festival-goer’s favourite. 

Also at legendary venues such as the Tivoli in Utrecht and more than once at Amsterdam’s Paradiso, the band has raised the roof and shaken the buildings to their foundations.

Following on from this reputation the AllStars are now currently considering offers from as far and wide as Japan, Poland and Spain, and across the Atlantic in the USA.
Their debut album “All Minorities Are The Majority” is due for release at the end of March 2014 on the German label : Grover Records.

The Bands founder and frontman, Remco Korporaal, is himself an absolute all star, with a career stretching across three decades in the international music scene. 

Along the way he has played alongside an impressive number of great artists, including legendary bands such as ‘The Toasters’ and ‘The Skatalites’ as well as names such as Desmond Dekker and Ziggy Marley.
